Inside Scoop: Bangkok’s Hippest Bars

Smalls

Bangkok is branded as the sanctuary of some of the most stunning, laid-back bars and restaurants. One of those is set in three-story shophouse on Sathorn road also known as Smalls, the brainchild of David Jacobson. Smalls, as the name describes, has a very intimate and cozy aura.

If you are looking to escape Bangkok’s ecstatic crowd and funky atmosphere, then Smalls welcomes every customer into its beautiful crimson drapery, contemporary artwork and a huge list of scrumptious signature cocktails. Jacobson not being new to the world of nightclubs understands that relaxing live jazz music with a good drink in hand can almost conquer any problem.

With oozing secrecy and sexiness this nightclub offers fine cocktails and late night jazz performances that shouldn’t be missed.

Tep Bar has to be first on the list to impress non-thai or even Thai friends because of its Thai everything from booze to steak to xylophone. Breaking the westernized nightclub trend top bar gives us a unique ‘Thainess’ in its two-story building tucked away in the street near Hua Lamphong.

Sing Sing Theater

Getting inspiration from the ancient Chinese Sing Sing Theater provides a courtyard theater and brothel for upper and middle class. A renovated shophouse found around the corner of Tep Bar. Teens of Thailand is hard to spot with its wooden doors and little venue, but there is a definite exquisiteness found in its minimalism. This faintly lit and classic aesthetics bar attracts a young crowd. Sticking to the originality of the shophouse this bar sure does offer a killer blend of cocktails.

Red Sky

Red Sky

As the name describes, the Red Sky is a very fancy rooftop restaurant/bar located at the 55th of Centara Grand hotel. Red Sky provides a 360degree panoramic view of the city and a perfect atmosphere to relax unlike its competitor Sky Bar which got dreadfully jam-packed after being unjustifiably featured in “The Hangover Part 2”.
