Living360’s Top 10 Travel Apps You Should Not Leave Home Without

We know that most of our readers and fans are savvy travelers who are also very digitally savvy, so we decided to put together a tidy little review of some travel apps we absolutely love.

Here are the Top 10 travel apps that our team and ambassadors swear by and would not dream of leaving home without.

1. AroundMe

aroundme

This is a ‘must have’ in our experience. It helps you find a movie theater, gas station, hospital – even a bar for that much needed dirty martini. The app is available in almost any language so you’re good! Don’t leave home without it.

2. Heywire

heywire

Unless you have been living under a rock, you have heard and are probably using Skype and WhatsApp – especially if you are a big traveler and don’t like being stung with hefty cell phone bills for international SMS.

Well look no further, Heywire allows you to take a picture of the Taj Mahal, add a caption and then send it to your friends for FREE – because it’s a meme generator! All you need is a US phone number and so do your friends and off you go. The app is free and available on iOS and Android. Can’t wait for it to be customized for Asia!

3. SitOrSquat

sitorsquat

Walking through the streets of Moscow and need to take the kids for a swim? Don’t speak Russian too good and ‘really’ need to go?

Enter SitOrSquat – a crowdsourced public restroom finder app that will show you public restroom options and ratings in your geographic area. As more and more travelers use it, the app will get better in time. In the meantime, it’s a life saver!

4. XE Currency

xecurrency

We all know it’s not very cool to pull out a calculator when trying to bargain for that amazing lamp in the grand bazaar (not to mention it’s a great way to be targeted by rip-off merchants playing ‘spot the tourist’). XE Currency should be a staple app in every phone’s app diet .. very reliable and has almost every currency you can think of. No brainer for travelers. XE Currency is free on iOS and Android.

5. DocuSign

docusign

Want to travel with a scanner, printer and fax machine all built into a neat little app? Then here it is. With DocuSign, you can do everything from filling out, signing and dating any document as long as you can find a WiFi connection…boom!

All you need to do is create a signature and you are set. Documents can import to DocuSign directly from your email and save all completed documents in your Dropbox, Google Drive, Evernote Box, Egnyte or Salesforce account for easy future access.

6. Doctoralia

doctoralia

Looking for a doctor when in another country can be a daunting task. That is unless you have this app – a global platform for making doctors’ appointments that works in 21 countries. Each doctor’s listing comes with complete details and it’s very clear and concise. The app is available on both iOS and Android.

7. WiFi Finder

wififinder

There’s nothing worse than hunting for free WiFi in a foreign city. With WiFi Finder, you will never have to do this again. The Wi-Fi Finder, which alerts you to more than 650,000 locations with Wi-Fi in 144 countries, uses a GPS function to find the closest availability. Best part is, it also tells you if it’s for Free or not. You can also download all the locations and print them out in case you are not online. The app is available for free on iOS and Android.

8. AllSubway

AllSubway

We love catching the subways in new cities. It’s easy to get around and adds an element of adventure to your trip. For our underground adventures, we choose this app because it features more than 160 maps which guides you through the public transit systems in Europe, North America, South America, Asia, Australia and Africa. Never get lost again.

9. iTranslate

itranslate

There are hundreds of translation apps out there but Living360 loves this one because of it’s user experience. It’s easy to use platform translates over 70 languages including emails and tweets before you send them out. Also available for free on iOS and Android.

10. WhatsApp

WhatsApp

An (somewhat) oldie but a goodie. With WhatsApp you can text any smartphone on the planet and send text, pics, videos and even audio files. It’s razor sharp and super popular, meaning you have a high chance of finding most people on here. Don’t get left behind – get on the WhatsApp bandwagon toady!
